Wanted Woman Maoist Surrenders Before Malkangiri Police

Malkangiri: A wanted woman cadre of the CPI (Maoist), Adme Madkami (22) surrendered before the police here today.

Madkami was a member of the Military Platoon of the Darva Division of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) of the banned CPI (Maoist), police said.

She surrendered before Malkangiri SP Rishikesh Dnyandeo Khilari, at the District Police Headquarters here, police added.

Police said Madkami, who surrendered on the initiative of Malkangiri police was carrying a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh announced by the State government on her head.

Police suspect her role in Maoist violence which includes murder, arson, and exchange of fire.

“Ande Madkami, a resident of Kamarpali, who was working as a party member of the Darva Division of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) today surrendered before Malkangiri police. She was wanted in several cases of Maoist violence and was carrying a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh on her head,” said Khilari addressing a presser here.

“She decided to surrender after seeing various developmental activities being undertaken by the Government of Odisha and realized the futility of violent path of Naxalism. She was disillusioned with the party leaders who were doing nothing for the development of the downtrodden people in the society,” he added.
