Puri: Bizarre scenes were seen at Puri Sea Beach right in front of Swargadwara area on Thursday. Fishermen of Nolia community were spotted digging the sand to find pieces of gold in the beach.
As per reports, few fishermen found sparkling pieces of gold trinkets in the sand a few days back. Since then, many others have been trying their luck every afternoon. As soon as the wave recedes, the fishermen either dig the wet sand or scoop out a lump of sand in their hands to search for gold.
While the fishermen think that the gold is present in the beach, locals suspect that some visitors might have dropped their gold earrings in the sand. Many also said that some bereaved families could have immersed gold pieces with the ashes which have come floating back with the waves.
