**Paradip:** The port town of the State is known for its seven-day long extravagant Biswakarmna Puja celebration that rejuvenates the whole city and its people. However, this year the rituals and festivities have been marred on the fourth day today as heavy winds and continuous showers due to depression over Bay of Bengal has uprooted several pandals.
The most affected pandal was the one set up by the Truck Owners Association as the tarpaulin came crashing down due to the scaly winds. Several puja items and decoration props were also ravaged in the rains.
While no deaths have been reported yet, foundations of numerous other pandals and structures have become weaker thus marring the Biswakarma Puja celebrations in the port town.
Notably, when Paradip Port became functional in 1963, people from different communities joined hands to organise the Biswakarma Puja celebrations with the objective of maintaining communal harmony among the residents.
The worship of Lord of Architecture ushers in the festive season in Paradip and the festivities continue for more than a week in the port city with a mass immersion ceremony marking its end.
