Dhenkanal: Following dismal road conditions, a newborn girl and her mother had to be transported to the parked ambulance on a stretcher in the district here today morning.
Such a scene was witnessed at Ekul village of Kantal panchayat under Kankadahada block.
As per reports, one villager named Niranjan Dehury’s wife Upasi suffered labour pain today morning for which the ambulance was called for. However, the ambulance could not enter the village owing to impassable road condition.
On the contrary, Upasi had already given birth to a baby girl before the ambulance could reach the outer ring of the village. When it approached and alerted the family members, the two patients had to be shifted over to the ambulance by means of a stretcher from it. Being assisted by the local Asha worker, the kin staggered down near about a kilometre to avail the parked ambulance.
Now the mother and her newborn were stated to be undergoing treatment at Kamakhyanagar Hospital.
