**Sundargarh**: Sundargarh Collector Surendra Kumar Meena is becoming a trendsetter when it comes to public service. Following his last week’s deed when he sat down with school kids to have mid day meal, the Collector has upped his humanitarian service by visiting the remote village of Karuadera riding pillion on a motorcycle to address public grievances.
The Collector and District Magistrate rode two kilometers on the back of a motorcycle and trekked hilly terrain to reach the remote hamlet of Karuadera village under Tasladihi panchayat that is devoid of basic amenities like electricity, drinking water supply and rural housing coverage. The bureaucrat’s step inspired other administrative officials and cops to accompany him as well.
The Collector ordered construction of a motorable road, installation of two solar-powered pump sets and digging of two wells in the village that has more than 55 households. He also instructed to immediately provide the pending land records to beneficiaries under Forest Rights Act (FRA) and interacted with villagers inquiring them about implementation of various poverty alleviation schemes.
Later, the Collector visited Anganwadi centres and distributed school supplies among kids. He also ordered that the children should be given footwear as soon as possible so that they do not have to walk bare feet to the AWC.
The Collector’s dedication left the villagers in awe as they stood and watched the bureaucrat work his magic. Later, they expressed gratitude about the same.
