Sundergarh: A 22-yr-old tribal girl sold for Rs 40,000 four years back has been successfully rescued by Sundergarh police in New Delhi after a 12-day-long intense operation. The girl hails from Koradega village under Lephripada police limits and had posted a video appealing for help to get back to her village.
“I hail from Sundergarh and am working as a domestic help in a house at New Delhi. The person(my acquaintance) who brought me here had taken lots of money in exchange. I am not allowed to contact my family back in the village or even go and meet them. Please help me,” the girl appeals in the video.
After the video got posted, the Sundergarh police sprung into action and after a 12-day-long operation, it successfully rescued the girl. Along with the girl, it also rescued six more persons, three of them were minors.
The victims will be produced before the Child Welfare Committe (CWC) before handing them to their respective families.
