Bhubaneswar: The State Vigilance on Wednesday arrestred a night watchman at an RI’s office in Phiringia in Kandhamal district on charges of bribery. The watchman in question, Ajaya Mallick was held while accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000 for processing mutation of a land in favour of the ‘complainant’ and other legal heirs.
The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Mallick and seized in presence of witnesses. A hand wash gave
positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, search has been launched on the residential house of Mallick at Nandagiri under G.Udayagiri police limits, the Vigilance said.
A case has been registered against Mallick by Berhampur Vigilance Division in this connection.
