Bhubaneswar: The Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department of the Government of Odisha has initiated a new tradition for its departmental events and ceremonies. Principal Secretary Dr. Arabinda K Padhee has suggested that all officers should start these events by watering a sapling.
After the meeting or ceremony is over, they should plant the said sapling in a suitable place in any office of the department. The sapling will be specially planted by the person retiring from the department, which will remind of the concerned fellow officer/employee.
The Principal Secretary hoped that this symbolic initiative will indicate the commitment of the Department towards building a green environment and inspire others. In addition to watering the sapling, he also stated that organizers may follow the traditional lighting of the lamp at these events.
