Bhubaneswar: Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder and actor Kamal Haasan on Monday paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Haasan was on a one-day trip to Bhubaneswar during which he called on the Odisha CM at the latter’s residence, Naveen Nivas.
After the end of their brief meeting, the duo appeared before a media persons waiting outside. Speaking to the press, Naveen said, “I am delighted that Mr Kamal Hassan is in Bhubaneswar. We had a discussion about his future, political career and prospects and about the films which he is doing.”
The Odisha CM asked Haasan to come to Odisha on a longer trip. “We can then see some beautiful places in Odisha like Konark and Chilika,” said Naveen.
Thanking Naveen for a warm welcome, the veteran actor said, their half-an-hour meeting was ‘wonderful’. “It was more of receiving advice from a veteran politician. I was asking questions and got some great answers,” he said.
MNM Vice president, R Mahendran also accompanied Haasan during the visit. “I have always closely watched the unprecedented career which he (Naveen Patnaik) has had so far. We watch him and learn from him every day,” Haasan said.
