Bhubaneswar: Former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Majhi who quit Congress recently, announced on Sunday that he and his supporters are going to join the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) very soon.
“Congress will not return to power in Odisha. For the development of undivided Koraput region in the larger interest of our people, we will join the BJD,” said Majhi addressing a posse of reporters on Sunday.
Majhi’s exit was a big jolt for Odisha Congress, as he wielded considerable influence as a youth leader in the tribal belt.
Majhi added, “I would appeal all other Congress workers and leaders of undivided Koraput to join us as we join the BJD under the leadership of our Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.”
The former MP’s supporters also resigned from Congress following their leader. He said the Congress cannot fulfill aspirations of people of Odisha. “It is the BJD, which has given a stable and development-oriented Government over the last two decades,” he added.
