Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in scattered areas of Odisha until August 25.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bargarh districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall with thunderstorms today. A yellow warning has been issued for these districts, indicating potential disruptions due to the heavy rain.
On August 22, heavy rainfall is expected in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Bargarh districts.
The weather department has also forecasted heavy rainfall in some areas of North and Western Odisha on August 23 and 24. Residents are advised to stay prepared for potential disruptions due to heavy rainfall.
Besides, the weather office has issued a yellow warning for 20 districts in Odisha for thunderstorms. The districts under warning include Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
Meanwhile, Dhenkanal received 27.4 mm of rainfall on Wednesday, followed by Jagatsinghpur with 21.1 mm, Paralakhemundi with 15.2 mm, and Talcher with 13.8 mm.
The IMD has urged residents to take necessary precautions and stay informed about weather updates.
