**Bhubaneswar: ** The regional meteorological centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm alert for 22 districts of Odisha on Thursday.
The alert has been sounded for Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur. Nawarangpur, Nuapara, Kalahandi and Malkangiri till 8:30 am on Friday.
According to an IMD bulletin, thunderstorm accompanied by hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph is likely to occur at these places.
The state capital Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 35.2 degree Celsius on Thursday. The IMD has forecasted that sky over the capital city would remain partly cloudy in the next 24 hours. Rain or thundershower may occur. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to remain between 35 to 24 degree Celsius on Friday.
The maximum day temperature of other important towns in the state for today are as follows- Cuttack (35.6), Puri (34.2) and Sambalpur (34.4), Balasore (36.6), Jharsuguda (34.6) and Bolangir (33.6).
The regional MeT Department has also predicted that strong and gusty surface wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely to prevail along and off Odisha coast. Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea.
