Weather Update: IMD Warns Of Heavy Rainfall & Thunderstorms In Odisha For Next Five Days

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning in several districts of Odisha on August 21 and 22.

According to the latest IMD forecast, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur in one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nabarangapur, Koraput, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Balasore, Bargarh, and Nuapada on August 21.

Additionally, the IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorms with lightning in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Deogarh on August 22.

As per IMD’s prediction for August 23, there is no possibility of heavy rainfall.

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorms with lightning are expected at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati district, according to IMD prediction for August 24.

“Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal and Nayagarh,” read the IMD forecast for August 25.
