Malkangiri: A wedding scheduled on Wednesday evening in the town was cancelled after the groom’s father died during the ‘baraat’ procession. The deceased was identified as Mahendra Rohila of Delhi.
His son fell in love with a girl from Malkangiri and their marriage was approved by both the families. On April 20, the Baraat was proceeding to the wedding venue when the mishap occured.
The groom’s family alleged that the death was due to loud music emanating from the DJ equipment used in the procession. While they cancelled the marriage following the tragedy, the groom’s family staged a protest by placing Rohila’s body infront of the bride’s house.
Malkangiri police have registered a case in this matter and started an investigation. The body of the deceased was sent for autopsy, the police said.
