Bhubaneswar: Popular Odia Music director Swaroop Nayak passed away today after a long battle with cancer. He was 76.
He had been diagnosed with throat cancer and was under treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack.
He had worked on the music of several Odia movies and gifted a number of hit film and album songs. He had given music direction in 41 Odia films.
Nayak was not only a successful music director but also a lyricist, singer and actor. He had worked as a playback singer in six odia movies. He had also acted in six movies. He had appeared as a child artist in ‘Jaydev’ in 1984.
Born on February 8, 1947, Nayak started his career as a music director in ‘Hira Nila’ in 1962. His famous dirctorial works include ‘I Love You’, and Pua Mora Bhola Shankar, Udandi Sita. Sashu Ghara Chalijibi, Mana Rahigala Tumari Thare.
Noted Film and music director Sarada Prasanna Nayak is his brother and popular actress Parbati Ghosh is his sister.
