Bhubaneswar: A well-marked low-pressure area over the west-central Bay of Bengal has moved north-northwestwards and is likely to concentrate into a depression over the same region within the next 12 hours, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to the IMD, the system is expected to further intensify into a deep depression and cross the South Odisha-North Andhra Pradesh coasts during the early morning of October 3.
Under its influence, Southern Odisha, in particular, is expected to experience heavy rainfall, with wind speeds reaching 40-50 km/h. The districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, and Gajapati are likely to be severely impacted. An orange warning has been issued for these districts, signalling heavy to very heavy rainfall.
