Well Marked Low Pressure In Bay Of Bengal: Heavy Rains In Odisha Over Next 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: The low pressure area of Northwest Bay of Bengal and its neighbuorhood has intensified into a well marked low pressure are over Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha-West Bengal coasts. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up tp 5.8 km above mean sea level, the Indian Meteorological Department’s Bhubaneswar station informed.

Under the influence of this system light to moderate rainfal activity with isolated heavy to very heavy falls with isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely to occur during next 24 hours over parts of Odisha.

While the rainfall will help for transplantation of Kharif crops, it might result in water logging and traffic disruption in low lying areas of the affected districts. Fishermen have been warned to stay off Odisha coast till July 25 morning.

As per IMD’s forecast, the following districts will face heavy rains till Saturday morning – Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayhurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, and Puri.
