‘Where Is BJD MP Rabindra Kumar Jena?’

**Bhubaneswar**: Where is Rabindra Jena, ruling BJD’s Balasore Lok Sabha member and one of the accused in the multi-crore Seashore chit fund scam, as asked by opposition political parties and intellectuals on Friday.

The scam-tainted BJD leader is not visible anywhere in the State after the CBI raided his home in Balasore on January 12 after the MP didn’t appear before it.

Apprehending arrest by the central investigating agency, the Balasore MP had knocked the doors of Orissa High Court pleading for anticipatory bail but did not get any relief.

Since then the businessman-turned-politician has gone missing from public eye even though his party has already geared up for the upcoming panchayat polls.

Senior journalist and Odisha chit fund victims’ advisor Rabi Das said he is not able to understand why CBI is not arresting him despite having the evidence.

“We are not able to understand why CBI is not arresting BJD MP Rabindra Jena despite having strong evidence of his links with Seashore chit fund scam. He is not visible anywhere in the state, especially in Balasore. The CBI has not yet given any clear indication of nabbing him anytime soon. The MP was seen roaming with political leaders in Delhi. At least, people should know that the CBI is searching him,” Das claimed.

Meanwhile, the Congress mounted the attack on State Government and said the ruling party should give details about the whereabouts of the MP.

“The Government should tell where Rabindra Jena is now. The CBI has already decided to arrest him as he was repeatedly grilled by the investigating agency in connection with the chit fund scam. We are demanding the CBI should arrest him as soon as possible,” said Bhubaneswar District Congress chief Manoranjan Das.

Notably, Jena had appeared before the CBI here in the capital city on December 10 last year and had been grilled for around seven hours over his alleged links with the tainted Seashore chit fund firm.

Since January 16 was the extended deadline of CBI asking him to depose and he did not turn up at the CBI office here, it is being assumed that he is evading his possible arrest.
