Bhubaneswar: The State government’s tiger breeding program and conservation efforts today received a boost as white tigress Rupa gave birth to four healthy cubs at Nandankanan Zoological Park.
The latest litters of Rupa, fathered by melanistic tiger Krishna, arrived between 5:43 AM and 9:31 AM today. The tigress is nurturing the cubs who are under constant CCTV surveillance. Their genders have not been determined as they remain with their mother.
The six-year-old Rupa was born to parents Roshan and Bijaya at the city zoo in 2018. The tigress had previously delivered two litters. Her first litter yielded three cubs in 2022, with one surviving cub, Himanshi, now residing at Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park.
Her second litter in 2023 produced two cubs, Amrita and Shiva, currently at Nandankanan
