Balangir: In a disturbing incident in Budula panchayat of Balangir district, a Supply Assistant has allegedly raped a widow for over a year in exchange to get her a ration card.
The woman reported to the police that Girish Chandra Sahu, the accused Supply Assistant of Budula panchayat in Agalpur Block, had been coercing her into a physical relationship under the threat of making a compromising video of her viral.
The alleged abuse came to light on November 2 when the victim confronted Sahu at the panchayat office and reportedly struck him with her sandal. A video of the incident has since circulated widely on social media.
“Following the woman’s complaint, Agalpur police have registered a case under sections 64, 126, 296, 115, 351, 35, and BNS 65A of the IT Act. The police have begun an investigation, and a team has been formed to apprehend Sahu, who is currently on the run,” informed Bolangir Sadar SDPO Pradip Kumar Sahu.
