Khurda: The body of Manoranjan Mohapatra (32) was recovered from Haripur forest in Nachuni area here, a couple of days back. It was stuffed into a suitcase and abandoned in the woods by none other than his wife and brother-in-law.
Manoranjan’s wife orchestrated the plan to kill him with the help of her cousin and one of their associates, SP Siddharth Kataria said, added that the 32-year-old had been reportedly torturing his wife and used to quarrel with her in an inebriated state.
Unable to tolerate it further, the woman hatched a plan to eliminate her husband. The police achieved the breakthrough in the case after they located the shop from where the accused had purchased the trolley bag, which was used to dispose of the body.
“A case has been registered under sections 201 and 302 of IPC against the cousins and an associate. Our objective will now be to ensure that the deceased gets justice.” On the other hand, a police source informed that several criminal cases were registered against Manoranjan in Nayagarh district.
The deceased was the son of Gangadhar from Lakhapada of Balabhadrapur panchayat under Ranpur block of Khordha district.
