Nabarangpur: Finally, after a toil of 30 long hours, Forest Department employees today were able to rescue a bear that had perched atop a tree in Nayakguda village under Umerkote block in Nabarangpur district of Odisha.
As all other efforts by Forest Department employees failed to get the wild bear to climb down from the tree, they had to tranquilize the animal before they could capture it.
A rescue team of the Forest Department from Papdahandi was successful in capturing the bear.
The Forest Department team have taken the captured bear in a cage to an undisclosed location.
After it regains consciousness necessary medical treatment will be provided before it is released into the forest, Forest Department sources said.
The wild bear had entered Nayakaguda village in the night in search of food. Unable to return it had climbed the tree.
Local villagers who were in a state of panic after seeing the bear had informed the Forest Department.
