Bhubaneswar: A woman died while the other was seriously injured after being attacked by a wild elephant at Turacha village under Padampur block in Bargarh district, on Wednesday morning.
The Forest Department had earlier warned about the presence of the wild elephant in the area, but the women were unaware of the danger. The incident occurred when two women from the Turacha village went to collect mahul leaves and were suddenly attacked by the elephant. One woman died on the spot, while the other was seriously injured, according to reports.
The injured woman is being treated at Veer Surendra Sai Institute Of Medical Science And Research Centre.
The identity of the deceased woman has not been ascertained yet. The forest department has reached the scene and is keeping a close watch on the elephant’s movement.
