Dhenkanal: In a tragic incident, a youth from Chauliya village in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district was killed in an elephant attack on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Brahmananda Nayak, a resident of Chaulia village in Dhenkanal
According to reports, Brahmananda had gone to his paddy field this morning when he encountered a wild elephant, which trampled him to death.
On being informed, police and Forest Department personnel reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. Meanwhile, the Forest Department has launched an investigation into the incident.
Locals informed that the wild elephant had strayed from its herd and was wreaking havoc in the villages near the Dhenkanal Forest Range. Though the Forest Department was informed about the matter, no action was taken, they alleged.
