Dhenkanal: Wildfires, sporadic in nature, have been reported from forests in the district from the past few days. According to reports, a mountain called the ‘Budhi Pahada’ under Bampha section of Hindol forest range is caught in a blaze.
At least three elephants are reportedly trapped in this fire at Budhi Pahada. The fire is spreading across the entire jungle and immediate steps are needed to contain it, said locals.
“The elephants are screaming for help and we cannot do much with limited resources. The forest and fire departments need to respond at the earliest,” the local villagers said.
On the other hand, the forest in Jautukapasi village in Muktapasi section under the Kamakhyanagar forest range is caught in flames. Another forest in Icchabatipur village is also facing a similar situation. Due to forest fire, the wild animals are entering villages.
