Bhubaneswar: A wildfire gripped the Similipal reserve forest in Mayurbhanj district late at night on Monday. The forest fire, first spotted last night, has engulfed parts of Similipal near Manikpur and Anantapur. The fire has covered a large area, at least one kilometre long, said sources. Meanwhile, efforts are on to control the fire.
The wildfire has charred medicinal plants, some big trees and wild animals have also been impacted, sources added. A few days ago, a fire had also broken out in Khaladi and Tanakasahi reserve forests under Udala range.
