Boudh: A team of Special Task Force (STF) arrested a wildlife criminal for possessing leopard skin and other wildlife products at Manamunda-Sagada road near Meheruni bridge under Manamunda police station in Boudh district.
According to an official press release, the STF conducted a raid on Friday evening and arrested Narayan Majhi, 28, of Paribandha village. The raid was based on reliable information regarding the dealing and possession of wildlife products by the criminal.
During the raid, a leopard skin along with other incriminating materials was recovered from his possession. Majhi failed to produce any authority to support his possession of the leopard skin, leading to his arrest.
Majhi has been forwarded to the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Kantamal, in Boudh district. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. The leopard skin will be sent to the Director of the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) in Dehradun for biological examination.
