Bhubaneswar: Acting on a tip-off, a team of Special Task Force (STF) along with Forest officials of Boudh Forest Division conducted a raid and apprehended a wildlife smuggler named Girish Kumar Sahoo from Chhatranga under Harabhanga police limits on Saturday evening.
The team also recovered a leopard hide, two deer skins and other incriminating documents from the possession of Sahoo. The raid was conducted on the public road connecting Chhatranga and Harabhanga.
A case (No. 5 dated 19.03.2023) has been registered at the STF police station under Sections 379/411/120(B) IPC r/w Section 51 of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972. The accused will be forwarded to the court of JMFC, Harabhanga, Charichhak, Boudh, while the animal hides will be sent to Director WII, Dehradun for biological examination.
