Bhubaneswar: Former Jharsuguda MLA and daughter of former Minister Late Naba Das, Deepali Das today said that she will write to the State government demanding a CBI probe into the murder of her father that took place in January 2023.
“I have requested the government as well as the Chief Minister to order a CBI inquiry into the case. We are discussing the investigation in our family. We will also write to the government in this regard. If the government is sensitive to the matter, and if they respect my late father without any self-interest, I must request them to go ahead,” Deepali said while speaking to the media.
“We will do whatever is required in the investigation. We will cooperate with the investigation in every aspect,” she added.
Deepali’s statement came a day after forensic reports revealed the use of multiple guns during the attack on the former Health Minister. According to the forensic report, there were other shooters involved besides the prime accused, Gopal Dash. The report by the forensic science laboratory stated that while one bullet struck Naba Das, five others hit a government vehicle accompanying his convoy.
The BJD leader was shot on January 29, 2023, allegedly by police ASI Gopal Das in Brajrajnagar of Jharsuguda district. Das was declared dead by the doctors at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. Accused Gopal Das was arrested on January 30. The State government had handed over the charge of inquiry to the State Crime Branch.
