Kendrapara: A woman allegedly conspired in the murder of her husband and eloped with her lover while the funeral pyre of her dead husband was still burning in the cremation ground. Such an incident occurred at Bhamanda village under Rajkanika police limits of Kendrapara district.
Reportedly, Ratnamani, the wife of a priest Rangadhar Das had been in an illicit relationship with one Asit Satpathy of the village for the last four years. Asit used to visit her house in Rangadhar’s absence. When Ratnamani’s son and daughter came to know about this immoral relationship and protested, Asit and Ratnamani threatened to beat them and kill their father.
On August 17, some villagers witnessed Ratnamani quarreling with Ranghadhar when he was leaving for the temple. Following it, Rangadhar had gone missing. A complaint in this regard had been lodged by his brother Gangadhar at Rajkanika Police Station. After five days, the mutilated body of Rangadhar was recovered near the Similimahara canal.
When the last rite of Rangadhar was going on and the funeral pyre was burning, Ratnamani had been seen walking away with Asit while holding his hand. This video of the incident has gone viral. A case has been registered in this regard and further action will be taken after receiving the post-mortem report, said Rajkanika IIC.
