Bhubaneswar: At least three persons, including a woman, identified as Bangladeshi infiltrators were recently deported to their home country with the assistance of the Border Security Force (BSF), official sources said on Friday.
According to reports, the trio had been residing illegally in Kendrapara district for a prolonged period. They were detected as foreign nationals following a detailed verification and scrutiny exercise conducted during November and December last year.
Officials said that during questioning, the individuals claimed to be Indian citizens but failed to produce any valid documents to substantiate their claims. Subsequent investigations confirmed their Bangladeshi nationality.
Following the confirmation, the deportation was carried out in accordance with directives issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Odisha Police personnel formally handed over the three individuals to the BSF at a designated border station, from where they were sent back to Bangladesh.
Sources further stated that the Intelligence Bureau (IB), in coordination with the Odisha Police, played a crucial role in identifying the infiltrators and facilitating their deportation.
