Balasore: In a bizarre incident, Kamarda police arrested a woman for allegedly strangulating her six-day-old girl after registering a case in this regard. The incident has been reported from Siyarui village under the Kamarda police station in Odisha’s Balasore district.
When the villagers noticed the infant missing, they asked the woman, Bandana Patra, about her whereabouts. Bandana reportedly told the villagers that the baby was dragged away by some wild animals on March 5. Not convinced by her response, the villagers informed the police about the incident.
Kamarda police lodged a complaint in this regard and started an investigation. During their probe, police recovered the infant’s body from a nearby pond and sent it for post-mortem. The findings of the autopsy confirmed that the child was strangled to death before dumping the body into the pond.
Following this, the police arrested Bandana and sent her to judicial custody.
