Cuttack: An unknown woman was rescued today on time by the city Fire Brigade ODRAF team and Commissionerate Police personnel when she was noticed having jumped into the Mahanadi river in a bid to attempt suicide from Jobra-based barrage this afternoon.
Soon after rescued, she was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital here in the city.
Reports said that the health condition of the woman was stated to be stable but appeared to be in a state of shock and nervousness for which she is under the medical surveillance at SCB.
Till the filing of the story, neither her identity nor the reason behind her such a drastic step was ascertained by the Jagatpur police.
However, sources said that she has reportedly uttered her name as Prasanti Behera before the doctor.
Reports further said that she was noticed jumping into the river by some locals and fishermen. They at once plunged into rescue operation when the ODRAF team as well as the Jagatpur police also joined them soon after and she was fished out of the water safe.
