Woman Attempts Suicide, Poisons Children After Husband’s Death In Malkangiri

Malkangiri: In a tragic incident, a woman attempted suicide by poisoning her two young children and herself at Katliguda village under Malkangiri sadar police limits in Malkangiri district. The incident occurred six days after her husband, Maheswar Sodi, died under suspicious circumstances.

Basanti Sodi, the mother, allegedly fed her two-year-old son and one-year-old daughter yellow oleander seeds (kanyari seeds) before attempting to take her own life. Relatives discovered the incident and rushed the family to Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital, where they are receiving treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.

The motive behind the tragic act is unclear, leaving the local people in shock. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
