Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a man brutally murdered his wife with a wooden stick following a trivial argument at Tangashola village of Chandua police station in Mayurbhanj district
The deceased, Sabita Bhakta, was killed by her husband Charan Bhakta, who has been arrested by the police. According to reports, the couple had a love marriage six years ago and have two children, aged five and one and a half years.
On the fateful night, a fight broke out between the couple over a minor issue, which escalated into a violent confrontation. In a fit of rage, Charan Bhakta allegedly beat his wife to death with a wooden plank and then stood guard over her body throughout the night.
In a bizarre attempt to deceive others, Charan Bhakta was seen crying bitterly next to his wife’s body the next morning. However, his act was soon exposed when a neighbour informed the police about the incident.
Police arrived at the scene and took the accused into custody and launched an investigation. The incident has sent shockwaves in the district.
