Balasore: A woman and her relative girl were brutally beaten up and dragged by three police personnel on the premises of Chandbali police station in Bhadrak district over her indiscipline act in the police station.

A video containing the entire incident is doing the rounds on social media. It purportedly showed three police personnel thrashing the woman and dragging her into the police station while she was screaming. The incident happened on Tuesday night.

According to the woman, her husband who was a driver by profession was picked up by police in connection with a case. On being informed, she along with her minor sister-in-law came to the police station. By the time, an accused was forwarded to court. He was given a pair of new shoes and its cover was thrown there.

The woman said that her infant was playing with the shoe cover and she threw it up. A police constable asked her to put it into the dustbin to which she refused.

Irked, the constable slapped her and beat her up with stick, the woman alleged. Later, two other male police personnel came, heckled her and dragged her into the police station in which her saree was torn up.

“Later, the IIC gave me a new saree and questioned me regarding the incident. The dress of my sister-in-law was also ripped in the incident,” she alleged.

Reacting to the incident, Chandabali SDPO Karttik Chandra Mallik said “The woman was creating ruckus in the police station by hurling abusive slang. So, some police personnel took her to the police station. The woman has not lodged any complaint regarding her allegation. We will investigate the matter after receiving her complaint. Action will be taken accordingly.”
