Bhubaneswar: A woman constable was assaulted by her husband over a family dispute. The incident took place under Tusara police jurisdiction in Balangir district, on Sunday. The matter came to the fore after the lady constable filed a complaint in this connection.
Based on a complaint filed by the lady constable, the police registered a case in this regard and started an investigation into the incident.
As per reports, Jyoti Pradhan and his wife Nupur Biswal of Samara village work as constables at Balangir Reserve Police. They were on their way home after duty when an altercation ensued between the husband and wife near Samara Square. Jyoti stopped the bike near the Square and attacked Nupur with the help of his friend who waiting for him at Samara Square.
According to Nupur’s complaint, her husband’s friend first pulled her hair, and then Jyoti attacked Nupur.
Local farmers came to the rescue of Nupur after she screamed for help following which Jyoti and his friend fled the scene. Upon being informed, Nupur’s family members reached the spot and rushed her to a private hospital for treatment.
