Boudh: Tension prevailed at Radhanagar village in Odisha’s Boudh district after a car rammed into a house killing a woman on the spot on Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as Paneswari Dhal.
According to reports, Paneswari was sleeping in her house when the incident occurred Saturday night.
The speeding car coming from Charichhak crashed into the house after its driver lost control of the wheel and skidded off the road on NH-57.
The driver of the vehicle fled the spot after the accident. Angry over the woman’s death, local villagers blocked Khordha-Bolangir NH-57 for a long period affecting vehicular traffic on the Khorda-Bolangir route. They also staged a demonstration demanding compensation to the kin of the deceased and action against the absconding driver.
Later, senior police officials reached the spot and the agitation was lifted after assurances that the villagers’ demands would be considered.
