Cuttack: In a bizarre but tragic incident, a Sexagenarian woman died after falling into a septic tank of her house in Parashar Sahi in the Jobra area of Odisha’s Cuttack district on Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Jayashree Sahu (60).
The mishap occurred when Jayashree was plucking flowers in her garden and stepped on the damaged cover of the septic tank in the garden. As the damaged cover gave away under her weight, the woman fell into the tank. Soon after she fell into the septic tank, stone chips piled nearby fell into the tank covering her, killing Jayashree on the spot.
On being informed, Fire Services and police personnel reached the spot and rescued Jayashree but she had breathed her last by then. Subsequently, her body was sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
A pall of gloom descended in the neihbourhood as the news of the freak accident and Jayashree’s death spread.
