Bhubaneswar: A woman was killed while her husband sustained critical injuries after the couple was attacked by a wild elephant at the Bantala forest range in Angul district of Odisha on Tuesday morning.
The victim has been admitted to the Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in critical condition.
According to reports, Chhabil Biswal and his wife Sulochana Biswal of Talagarh village under Angul block in the district had gone to work in their farmland morning. Suddenly, a tusker appeared in the farmland and attacked the couple killing the woman on the spot.
Hearing the cries for help, local villagers rescued Chhabil Biswal in critical condition and rushed him to Angul DHH for treatment.
So far, no official from the Forest Department or police visited the village.
