Balasore: A woman was electrocuted to death while plucking flowers at Khantapada block in Balasore district.
The incident happened early in the morning, and a complaint was lodged with the Khantapada police station against the electricity department.
The victim has been identified Annapurna Barik, a resident of Daradiha village.
According to reports, Annapurna was plucking flowers when she came into contact with a live wire that had been carelessly left hanging from a tree after being cut by the electricity department. The victim was rushed to Khantapada Community Health Centre, where she was declared dead.
The deceased’s son, Ratikant Barik, has filed a complaint with the police, alleging that his mother’s death was due to the negligence on the part of the energy department.
Based on the complaint, police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
It is pertinent to mention that a minor boy had died due to electrocution in Jirital village under Bahanaga block in Balasore district on Friday.
Ayush Maharana, the only son of Prabhakar Maharana, came into contact with a live electric wire while pouring water at home. He was taken to the Khantapada Community Health Centre, where he was declared dead.
