Berhampur: In a disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through Berhampur, a woman was found burnt alive inside a locked house in Nilanchal Nagar on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Namita Rath, wife of a retired police officer.

According to reports, no one was present in the house at the time of the incident. Family members, upon returning home, discovered Namita in a severely burnt state. She was immediately rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.

The exact cause of the fire remains unclear, and the circumstances surrounding the death are now under active investigation. Police are trying to determine whether the incident was an accident, suicide, or a case of foul play. Forensic and crime scene experts are expected to assist in the probe to piece together what led to the fatal blaze.

The mysterious nature of the incident—especially the fact that the house was locked—has raised serious concerns among locals, and authorities are under pressure to establish the truth at the earliest.
