Deogarh: Police on Saturday recovered the body of a 32-year-old woman from a forested area under Laimura police station limits in Deogarh district. The deceased has been identified as Pratima Majhi of Laimura village.
According to reports, local residents who had gone to the forest for morning ablutions spotted the body lying at the base of a tree and immediately alerted the family. Police, accompanied by a scientific team, reached the spot, seized the body, registered a case and launched an investigation.
Pratima, daughter of Keshan Majhi, had married a few years ago in Durijungle village. However, marital disputes reportedly arose a few months after the wedding, following which she began living at her parental home in Laimura. On Friday night, she was last seen speaking on her mobile phone after dinner, while other family members had gone to sleep.
Her father has lodged a written complaint at Laimura police station alleging that Pratima was murdered. Police have said that all angles, including foul play, are being examined.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, which will be conducted on Sunday, police sources said. Further investigation is underway.
