Dhenkanal: The body of a young woman was found inside her house at Loknathpur under Kamakhyanagar police station in Dhenkanal district.
Deceased Laxmipriya Khuntia slept with her mentally challenged sister in the absence of her mother on Wednesday night.
Her mother went to her sister’s in-laws’ house and didn’t return. In the morning, the house of Laxmipriya was found locked from inside. Neighbours knocked on the doors and received no response from insiders.
Villagers saw the body of Laxmipriya through windows and informed her mother.
Her body was found with a deep mark on her neck.
Family members alleged that she was murdered by some miscreants. They demanded an investigation into the death of Laxmipriya.
A team of police from Kamakhyanagar reached the scene and launched an inquiry after sending the body for post-mortem.
A scientific team has been engaged in the investigation, police said.
