Bhadrak: A pregnant woman on Guwahati Express (12509) gave birth to triplets on early Friday morning. Woman and her babies were disembarked at Bhadrak railway station for necessary medical attention. Only of the three babies could survive the ordeal.
The woman, Munzila Khatun (29) was travelling from Bangalore to Guwahati when she began having labour pains. She gave birth to three premature babies, after seven months of gestation, at Jajpur Keonjhar Road station today morning. Khatun and the babies alighted at Bhadrak railway station for treatment.
She was attended by Railway doctors, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent,Bhadrak along with nursing and paramedical staffs at 5.50 am.
After primary treatment, all four of them were immediately rushed to District Headquarters Hospital, Bhadrak. While the mother was in a stable state, the newborns were said to be in a critical state while being transferred.
Only one of the triplets survived. The post-partum Khatun is said to be in a stable state now.
