Dhenkanal: Panic griped Brahmandhara village under the Mahabiroad police station in Dhenkanal district after a leopard attacked a woman, identified as Puina Naik, of the same village.
According to reports, the woman and two villagers were grazing goats in Brahmandhara forest under Pangathira Section when the leopard pounced on her. The woman’s companions came to her rescue, chasing the leopard away and saving her life.
Naik sustained injuries to her shoulders, chest, and waist. She was admitted to the Parjang Community Health Center for treatment. Her condition is currently stable.
The forest department has taken steps to alert nearby villages and prevent further attacks. The incident has left villagers in a state of panic.
Villagers demanded measures by the Forest department to ensure the safety of human and domestic animals.
