Balangir: In a tragic incident driven by overwhelming grief, a young woman sustained serious injuries after allegedly jumping from the roof of her house upon learning of her husband’s death in Balangir district on Saturday.
The incident occurred in Kapila Bhatta village under Bangomunda block.
According to sources, Nrup Bisi (30), a resident of the village, had been suffering from a respiratory illness and was admitted to Khariar Sub-Divisional Hospital around noon. As his condition worsened, he was shifted to Khariar Mission Hospital for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed to his illness while undergoing treatment.
After his body was brought back to the village, his wife, Baijayanti Bisi (25), reportedly became inconsolable. In a state of extreme distress, she allegedly jumped from the roof of their house.
She sustained critical injuries in the fall and was immediately rushed to Khariar Sub-Divisional Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
The couple had been married for just two years, adding to the poignancy of the incident.
