Bhubaneswar: A woman and her son came under the wheels of a truck carrying municpal waste here on Wednesday evening. While the woman died on the spot, the child is battling with death at a hospital.
The tragic incident occured near Rangamatia dumping yard under Mancheswar police limits. Enraged Locals staged an agitation demanding punitive action against the erring driver and compensation for the bereaved family.
Local police have registered a case and seized the vehicle. The mishap is a sorry recap of a fatality which occured on Old Cuttack – Khurda road when a man was crushed to death by a garbage truck of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
This incident occured exactly a month back on October 30. Mayor Sulochana Das had paid an instant compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the victim’s family in this case.
