Bhawanipatna: A woman was killed, while the driver was critically injured after the car they were travelling by crashed against a roadside tree near Gobarbahali under M. Rampur police limits in Kalahandi district on Thursday morning.
The deceased woman was identified as Mamuni Majhi, while the driver as Subrata Ghivela.
According to reports, Mamuni was going to Bhawanipatna by car for some work. She was sitting in the front seat, while Subrata was driving. As the car approached Gobarbahali, the driver lost control over the wheel and the vehicles crashed into a roadside tree. Mamuni died on the spot while Subrata was admitted to a local hospital in a critical condition.
On being informed, police reached the accident spot, recovered the body and sent it for autopsy. Police have seized the vehicle and are investigating into the incident.
