Bhubaneswar: A woman died while her husband sustained severe injuries in a road mishap near Durga Mandap under Chauliaganj police limits in Cuttack, on Thursday.
The couple belong to the Gatiroutapatna area in Cuttack. They were going to Cuttack when a truck hit the scooty they were travelling in. Both the husband and wife fell from the vehicle after being hit by the truck from the rear. As a result, wife died on the spot while her husband was critically injured and rushed to hospital.
The accident sparked tension in the locality as locals detained the truck driver and handed him over to Chauliganj police.
Police, meanwhile, seized the truck and detained the driver for further investigation.
